Join us on this naturalist-led hike, where you will learn about the unique nature of the Madrone Canyon trail. Experience the beautiful Devil’s slide trail and listen to the creeks as they flow through canyons, keep your fingers crossed for rains! The trail gets narrow and potentially slippery in winter, be sure to dress in layers and wear sturdy boots or shoes; bring plenty of water, and a snack.

Meet: Rock City Parking Lot, near the Uplands Picnic Area – Meet at the lower bathroom
Directions: Take Highway 24 to Walnut Creek (stay right) and Interstate 680 south. Go south on 680 and drive 7.2 miles to Danville and the exit for Diablo Road. Take Diablo Road east for 2.9 miles (at 0.7 of a mile, you jog right to stay on Diablo Road) to Mount Diablo Scenic Boulevard. Turn left and go 3.8 miles (becomes South Gate Road) to the kiosk at the park entrance. Continue 0.7 of a mile to the Rock City Parking Lot.
**Parking is available on the upper and lower levels, but there are limited spaces. If you drive past the service yard, you’ve gone too far.**
