  • Location: Carquinez Strait Regional Shoreline
  • Route: From the trailhead, follow signs to the Hulet Hornbeck Trail. Climb up to the top, and turn right on the Franklin Ridge Loop Trail.  Follow the loop around, keeping left.  You can also explore the trails that shoot off the main trail, towards the strait.
  • Mileage: 2.3 miles
  • Difficulty Level: Easy to moderate. There is an initial climb (and steep descent on the return) and Franklin Ridge Loop Trail flows up and down.
  • Description: For an exceptional view of the Carquinez Strait, Benicia, and the Carquinez Bridge, explore the Franklin Ridge Loop trail and the three tributaries that drop down from the trail. Oaks,  bay trees and buckeyes populate the hills. Great hike for birding as well.
