Point Reyes, Bear Valley Trail, September 12, 2017

  • Location: Point Reyes National Seashore,  Bear Valley Visitor Center
  • Route: From the Bear Valley Visitor Center, take the Bear Valley Trail to the ocean, and return the same way. 
  • Mileage: 9.97 miles to the ocean and back, 923 feet elevation gain
  • Difficulty Level: Moderate to strenuous. Most of the hike is a wide fire road trail that dips and rises under a changing canopy 
  • Description: One of the most popular hikes at Point Reyes National Seashore is the Bear Vally Trail to the ocean, and back. The ultimate destination used to be Arch Rock, which collapsed in March, 2015.
